Two big names in the class of 2027 have been rumored to make a big splash in the recruiting cycle, and LSU has been in the mix to possibly land both recruits. The two recruits: Texas Wide receiver commit Easton Royal and Texas Tech defensive lineman commit Jalen Brewster.

Easton Royal, a Louisiana native from New Orleans and the number one receiver in his class, originally committed to Texas last year on November 29th, 2025. The star receiver had been locked in with Texas up until the last couple months, when Royal took an official visit to LSU and Florida which has sparked conversation about him potentially flipping his commitment.

Easton was also crystal balled by Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong to make the flip to LSU and according to Wiltfong, Royal has a 60% chance to make the move back home. The 5’11, 200lb recruit could easily be the next great home grown wide receiver developed by LSU.

Texas Tech commit Jalen Brewster is the other big name to watch for a potential flip to Death Valley. He would be joining a stacked lineup of defensive linemen recruits such as Richard Anderson, Deuce Geralds, and Lamar Brown. Brewster, a 6’3, 302lb lineman out of Cedar Hill, Texas, is the number one ranked lineman in his class. Jalen originally committed to Texas Tech on October 4th, 2025 but took an official visit to LSU on May 29th of this year. He also took visits to Florida, Miami and Indiana.

Brewster recently posted about newly committed Texas Tech EDGE Anthony Sweeney, making people rethink his decision to leave the school for a new one. LSU is still actively pursuing the big name recruit despite the recent rumors.

As of now, the chances of only landing Royal are high, but expect LSU to continue going after both recruits heavily.
